I have been told many times that, when
my great grandfather ran his herd from Texas to the Montana Territory, he told
people that the best grass in the world is fenced by the Missouri and
Yellowstone Rivers with the Rocky Mountains thrown in to make it look good. I
don't know about the grass but the Rockies have it all. Great trails, great
lakes, great hunting, great fishing and, ah yes, waterfalls. Most of them
require considerable hikes and even those trails are busy with hikers and
would-be hikers from all over the world.
We are concerned, here, with those
waterfalls easily visited by families in a family sedan with children. There are
many web sites for the dedicated, 'hale and hearty' hikers who only have to carry
backpacks; they don't have to listen to, "Daddy, carry me. My feet won't go
any more." So, for the rest of us, here are some of Montana's most beautiful
waterfalls that we can visit and enjoy.
